Gym Attendant & Apprentice Parkour Coach Role

At Origins Parkour our gym attendants are the first point of contact for our clients, welcoming them to the gym and offering friendly assistance with booking classes, purchasing memberships, and informing clients of what we offer. Gym attendants provide assistance on the gym floor, ensuring that the space is being used safely. They are also responsible for keeping the gym clean, tidy, and inviting for our clients. Apprentice coaches observe classes, assist coaches, and lead small class groups. Our approach to learning the art and science of coaching emphasizes experiential learning, requiring 100-hours of in-class experience with oversight by experienced coaches. Apprentices attend meetings and workshops that review key coaching concepts like learning styles, cueing, and group management. If successful, apprentice coaches graduate to being full-fledged coaches at Origins.

Who we’re looking for

The right candidate has a keen interest in athletics and/or movement arts, and has been practicing parkour for a minimum of 2 years. They have experience teaching in some capacity, and are interested in developing their skills as an instructor. The candidate should enjoy working with people and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and be able to adapt to evolving situations on the go. They can learn and clearly communicate detailed information (ie: policies, schedule, and memberships). Our preferred candidate takes pride in making spaces presentable and inviting.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of practice in parkour
  • Prior experience in a customer service role
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to organize and execute tasks with attention to detail
  • Experience with booking software, particularly MindBody, is an asset
  • First Aid Training an asset (will be provided to the right candidate if needed)
  • Values variety in their work life
