Program leaders and instructors in recreation, sport and fitness – NOC 5254

Location: Vancouver Mount Pleasant and Port Moody Centre

About the employer: Origins Parkour

With gyms in Vancouver and Port Moody, Origins is recognized as one of North America’s leaders in parkour instruction, teaching over one hundred students each week since 2012. We provide a top-notch training space for parkour athletes and movement artists of various disciplines, including a fully equipped weight-room at our Vancouver facility. In Vancouver we’re located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant, and our Port Moody studio is located next to the city’s brewery district, steps away from the Evergreen Line. Our clientele is made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups who all come together to form an encouraging and inclusive community.

Gym Attendant & Apprentice Parkour Coach Role

At Origins Parkour our gym attendants are the first point of contact for our clients, welcoming them to the gym and offering friendly assistance with booking classes, purchasing memberships, and informing clients of what we offer. Gym attendants provide assistance on the gym floor, ensuring that the space is being used safely. They are also responsible for keeping the gym clean, tidy, and inviting for our clients. Apprentice coaches observe classes, assist coaches, and lead small class groups. Our approach to learning the art and science of coaching emphasizes experiential learning, requiring 100-hours of in-class experience with oversight by experienced coaches. Apprentices attend meetings and workshops that review key coaching concepts like learning styles, cueing, and group management. If successful, apprentice coaches graduate to being full-fledged coaches at Origins.
